Craghoppers Forest Adventures

Immersive experiences offering families the opportunity to find their playful selves and delve into the wonders of nature.

Families embark on a journey into nature guided by skilled and passionate Forest School practitioners. Each event is carefully curated to foster a sense of exploration, curiosity, and respect for the natural world.

Presented by Craghoppers and hosted by Stomping Ground, a local Not-For-Profit organisation who specialise in play and community-led participation.

One adult can attend for free with every child's ticket purchased.

All children must be supervised by an adult.

What To Expect........

Forest School is about learning in the woods - Learning how to look after ourselves and stay safe, learning how to look after each other and learning about how to care for the environment around us – all whilst having a load of fun!

Our sessions are play based and learner-led. Stomping Ground believes that 'play' is innate and brings forward all the opportunities a human needs to thrive safely and happily in the world. In these sessions, we are creating a space where children and adults alike can play! Individuals are free to decide what they want to participate in and we particularly emphasise and celebrate this autonomy.  

Participants can move freely between focused activities such as campfire cooking, fire lighting, tools, nature crafting and den building. We will also have hammocks, swings, and slacklines galore to meet those physical play needs. 

The Site........

The site is a public access park in the middle of Kendal. Using the site brings with it an education on litter and staying safe in these spaces; there is always the risk of broken glass etc. We will do a thorough litter pick before our sessions but please be aware it is not a pristine wilderness!

Physical Boundaries.....

This is a family session so we ask parents to be responsible for their children at all times. This is a public space which you may explore freely. Tool and fire areas will be roped off for safety. 

What to Bring........

Strong soled boots/ /Wellies - This is especially important on this site where there may be broken glass in the ground. 

* Waterproofs – In general kids wearing full waterproofs are often way more happy and willing to get stuck into muddy play. The same goes for adults – don't forget your own needs too!

* Warm Layers

*Any drinks and snacks you may want. We burn loads of energy in these sessions.

* Hand sanitiser

* Please don't bring any personal blade tools or pets to our sessions.
