Join us for an evening of inspiring tales from across the two wheeled world, celebrating the different ways people ride and embracing the people who do.
From ultra distance challenges to running errands around town, from cargo bikes to e-bikes to gravel bikes and tricycles... there's something for everyone no matter how fast, far or often you ride.
Blogger, author and cycling advocate Lady Velo (aka Jools Walker) will host the event alongside local Kendal cyclist Ben Dowman.
We'll welcome to the stage former elite racer Dr Marlon Lee Moncrieffe; a world-leading expert on the history of cycling and author of Rapha published book ‘Desire, Descrimination, Determination - Black Champions in Cycling’. Marlon will share tales from prominent figures such as the first non-white rider to race the Tour de France in 1914, discover how a determination to succeed in the face of discrimination defined the racing careers of great athletes.
Plus we'll hear from Scottish cyclist Christina Mackenzie who this year broke the longstanding Lands End to John O'Groats record, completing the 839 mile journey in 51 hours, five minutes and 27 seconds, taking over an hour off the previous record! After finishing in John O'Groats Christina said 'I came off the bike and did not even know which day it was. I didn't get any sleep, I just cycled right through.' Christina will be on stage to tell us more about this phenomenal feat, from her training to the team supporting her, we'll discover how it all came together.
Environmental campaigner, Jack Lenox will join us with tales from his new e cargo bike delivery service Lancaster Cargo Co. Jack 'wanted to make a difference and having seen successful cargo bike delivery businesses popping up across the UK and Europe, [he] thought, why not Lancaster?' We'll find out how it's going, what he's been delivering, and how it's helping local businesses.
13 year old YouTube sensation Ruby Isaac will be with us to share her passion for cycling. Whether road, mountain biking, cyclocross or performing tricks on her rollers, Ruby clearly loves to cycle and has ambitions of becoming a professional cyclist.
Leader for Wheels for All Kendal Christine Fisher joins us to tell us more about the Wheels for All project, and how it's helped children and adults with disabilities and differing needs access cycling and discover the joy of riding a bike.
Emily Wormald dreamt of a bike club that centred community and skill building on two wheels. Lakes Gravel Gang, a Lake District based cycling community, became a thing in April 2021 and is now an incredible community of 150+ women. Emily will join us to talk about the importance of community, cake, and adventures on two wheels.

The Cycling Session is presented by Rapha and Ribble and supported by Komoot.
